Impulse Powder System Fire Suppression
Muster Fire’s Impulse Powder System (IPS) is a self-generating Fire Suppression device containing a special dry chemical powder which when electrically or thermally activated produces gases which increase the pressure within the canister. The pressure then causes the powder to fluidise and when it reaches a certain pressure a membrane will rupture and allow the powder to expel from the canister. Impulse Powder System canisters are available in multiple sizes and can be mounted directly within the risk area to be protected.
Alternatively, the powder can be discharged through a pre-designed pipe network with multiple nozzles to the identified protected risk area. The powders suppressing action is achieved via the dilution of the flame zone with a powder-gas cloud and by creating a powder particle fire blanket on the surface of the burning material. IPS units are environmentally safe and do not contribute to global atmospheric warming or ozone depletion.
